Practice includes teaching styles to volunteers and receiving feedback on instruction clarity.
Most people want updos they can actually do on a Tuesday morning in under ten minutes. This program teaches you to create and teach simple styles that work for regular life, not special occasions.
The focus is on styles using minimal tools—no more than five pins, one elastic, maybe a clip. Each style needs to hold through a full workday, survive a workout, or last through errands without constant adjustment. We test this by having you wear each style yourself for a day before teaching it.
Teaching clients to self-style
Half of this program is about instruction technique. You'll learn how to break down a style into steps someone can follow in a mirror, identify where people typically struggle, and provide modifications for different skill levels. We practice explaining techniques without being able to use your hands, since that's how clients experience your instructions.
You'll work with messy buns that don't look sloppy, low ponytails with interesting details, half-up styles with volume, and simple twisted buns. Everything includes variations for second-day hair, fine hair that won't hold, and thick hair that's too heavy for basic pins.
The program also covers how to film simple tutorials and create visual guides clients can reference.
